I have worked with George for over 15 years and he was one brightest people I have had the privilege to know. Always the academic, he was a mentor to us all and will be sadly missed. I think we all know just a little more chemistry thanks to him. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you, Mary.

George was my student at Rutgers and I came to know him well, to value his friendship, and to admire his intelligence, humor, and humanity. George visited Rutgers just two months ago to present a well-received seminar on his research. My wife and I had dinner with him after his presentation and were able to catch up and to revisit old times. We are heartbroken that such a good and vital person should have passed on so long before his time. Please accept our deep sympathy and heartfelt condolences. Robert & Sandra Moss

I was very sorry to hear of George's death. I knew him through the Screaming Eagles, the DC United supporters club. Even if the weather was frightful (cold rain or remorseless steamy heat) or the team was in a slump, George always had a wry grin and some words of good cheer. He was a good chap, and he will be sorely missed, I'm sure, by all who knew him. My condolences and sympathy go to Mary and the rest of his family.

George was an excellent scientist and a fine man. I new of his earlier research work and of its importance. It was a pleasure to work with him on the Decontamination program, not only because of his professional ability but also because of his character and frienship. It is a sad loss for his family but also for his friends who knew him professionally and were happy to work with him. He clearly enjoyed his scientific work and his contributions in pure and applied chemistry were of major importance. He had a productive life even though it was cut short. Kindest regards, Cliff

I am saddened to hear of George's passing. I met him over ten years ago at a DC United match, and grew accustomed to seeing him and Mary weekly over the course of eleven seasons, dressed in their Inter Milan jerseys. We also saw each other often at the various charity events we attended over the years. George always had a friendly word and a smile for all of us who shared his love for soccer. He'll be missed.
