Obituary of Katherine Smith

Katie ("Kt") Smith of Herndon, VA, was born on December 7, 1991 and left this world on November 10, 2010. She is survived by her parents, Philip H. Smith III and Anita Hillyer Smith; her grandmother, Elisabeth Papas Smith, of Waterloo, Ontario; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents Louis and Mary Cimasi and Philip H. Smith, Jr. Katie graduated from Oakton High School in June, 2010, where her many interests included creative writing and journalism, theatre arts, policy debate, music, and hockey. She will be missed for her passion for learning, her off-beat sense of humor, and her devotion to her friends and family. Her amazing spirit impacted every life she touched, and she will be mourned by family, countless friends and their families, and teachers reaching back through elementary school. A celebration of Katie's life will be held on Saturday, November 20, at 2:00 PM at Floris United Methodist Church, 13600 Frying Pan Road, Herndon, VA.
