Obituary of Lucy Irene McCarthy

Lucy Irene Wooters McCarthy Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Lucy, a breast cancer survivor, unfortunately succumbed to lung cancer. Lucy was a beloved mother, wife and friend to a multitude of people. She was a caring soul who gave selflessly to others throughout her too short life. Lucy worked for years as a preschool teacher, a job that gave her much joy. For the years just prior to her passing, Lucy worked as an administrative assistant at Town Center Orthopaedics. Lucy is survived by her husband, John E. McCarthy Jr. of Vienna, VA, two wonderful boys, EJ, a recent graduate of Boston College, and Brian, an engineering student at Virginia Tech, seven siblings and a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 750 Peachtree Street in Herndon, Virginia.
