To Frannie, and the Brocke Family: My heart is very heavy at the moment as I have just learned of Ed's passing. He was a wonderful, kind, loving person and he will be missed by many. I pray the Lord will lift up your spirits and give you peace, and comfort in the knowledge that he is with the Lord, happy and safe. He's up there with the rest of that JayCe pack from SP, with Dad and Hal and Nick, getting things organized! God bless you all, Diane Barbagallo Davison

I was so saddened by the news of Ed's passing. I just saw Timmy after many years, at our reunion, and asked about his parents. I shared with him a memory of being behind the Brocke home on Church road ...I think it was Roxanne, me, Tim and Terry, playing with the crawfish in the creek...while our parents were visiting with each other. To all of you, my thoughts and prayers are with you. From all of us Gardners, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Brocke's passing, and we extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Brocke, Kathy, and the entire Brocke family. We only knew the Brockes for a short time compared to most Sterling residents. Sarah's first recollection was when she saw this "tall man" walking through the Mall wearing a patriotic tee shirt. Little did we know that we would end up working with him and Mrs. Brocke and Kathy on our common concerns of freedom for us as American citizens. Because of it, we became a part of a wonderful, loving family. We wish we could be there, but having moved to North Carolina, we will not be able to be with you. However, we will remember you in our thoughts and prayers.

The Brocke name is synonymous with Sterling Park. Ed helped to create and maintain the foundation and legend of a community that still supports one another even after all of these years. Knowing Ed was always there to assist helped me to be a better teacher and coach at Park View. He will be missed.

Fran and Family, I write to express our families' deepest sympathy on the loss of Ed. He was a special guy who married a special lady and had together a wonderful bunch of children. I shall never forget Ed for his friendship and support in my first campaign for the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors in 1967. Even though he worked for the Federal Government he didn't let the 'Hatch ACT' stop him from building and erecting my first two campaign signs and placing them on Sterling Blvd near routes 7 and 28. Fran y'all were a great team for some 60 years and I know it's hard to let him go but please know that he's in Heaven with family and friends who have gone on before. In time his we may become accustomed to not having Ed with us but we shall never forget his good and cheerful way of life. It is conforting to know that we will all be interred in Sterling Cemetery near the area we lived when we were young adults raising our children. Fran, much love to you and the family. Love, Charlie Waddell
