Obituary of Edward Clement Brocke

Edward C. "Big Ed" Brocke, age 80, of Ashburn, VA, formerly of Sterling, VA died on November 3, 2010 at Loudoun Hospital Center. He was born on May 26, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Edward C, Sr. and Helen Reper Brocke. Ed was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during Post-Korea. He was retired from the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller after more then 25 years of service. Ed was president and founder of multiple sports leagues and organizations in Loudoun County. He was an icon of the Sterling Sports community. Ed was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Sterling Elks Lodge # 2406 and the Leesburg Moose Lodge. Ed was the beloved husband of 60 years of Fran Brocke, friend and father of Tom Brocke and his wife Fern of Haymarket, VA, Tim Brocke of Ashburn, VA, Terry Brocke and his wife Teresa of Ashburn, VA, Kathy Brocke of Sterling Park, VA and Colleen Pitard and her husband Joe of Sterling, VA, brother of Janet Walck of Virginia Beach, VA and Jim Brocke of Carmel, IN, proud grandfather of Kyle, Kristin, Trey, Tyler, Travis, Sean, Conner, Corey, Tanner, Evan and Bailey. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 7 th from 1-3pm and 5-8pm at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 8 th at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 750 Peachtree Street, Herndon, VA. Graveside services with military honors will immediately follow at Sterling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Lower Loudoun Boys Football League in Memory of Ed Brocke, the first president and one of the founders of the league.
