Obituary of Kenneth Lebert

Kenneth "Ken" A. Lebert, 66, passed away at his home in Sterling, Virginia on the morning of August 3rd, 2012. Ken never asked, "Why me?" when he was diagnosed with brain cancer in December 2010. Instead, he was committed to keeping a positive attitude, facing his treatment with courage and living out his life to the fullest. Ken was born on October 1st, 1945 in Washington, DC and lived with his late parents Albert and Ida Lebert in Oxen Hill, Maryland on the family farm. During his childhood and teenage years, he spent much of his free time playing baseball with his best friend Jeff Trollinger and hitting golf balls with his father. Ken served in the U.S. Navy, studied at George Washington University and followed in his father's footsteps, working for 47 years at Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCO). During his life he was many things--a practical joker, avid reader, marathon runner, triathlete, golfer, sports fan, veteran, dad, husband and grandfather. Ken will be remembered for his wonderful smile and sense of humor, his generosity and kind heartedness. He was happiest in the company of his loved ones, whether it be on a ski trip, a beach vacation, around the dinner table or chatting with his friends at the office. Ken is survived by his wife Rosemarie and son Jonathan, his daughter-in-law Kristina and grandchildren Benjamin and Madeline. He will be remembered at a memorial service Wednesday, August 8th at 11 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Sterling, Virginia. Internment will be at Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The family will receive friends at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virginia on Tuesday, August 7th from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the American Cancer Society.
