Obituary of Doris Anne Fenneman

Doris was born March 12, 1935 to James Thomas Cottle and Emmie Elizabeth Kinder in Rose Hill, North Carolina. She had 2 older sisters, Jean and Ella, and one younger sister, Katherine. She moved to Portsmouth, Virginia as a young child and remained there until she married. She wed Robert Taylor Fenneman, a navy man, on December 31, 1958. They were married 24 years. Robert (Bob) passed away in July of 1982. In July, 1960 she had her first child Karen. In the mid 60's Doris started working for the Corp of Engineers in personnel at the Kennedy Gravesite in Arlington, Virginia and lived in Falls Church, Virginia. By the end of the 60's Doris started working for the Department of Defense in Alexandria, Virginia and had her second child, Cathy. Doris remained working for the DoD for 44 years primarily in personnel. In the mid 70's her daughter Karen started going to a Nazerene Church and Doris followed suit. Doris accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in 1976. She lived her days as a faithful, devoted witness for Christ. She loved the Lord with all her heart and her life was a testament to her deep rooted faith. After attending Christian Fellowship Church in Vienna, Virginia for many years, she then went to Mclean Bible Church in Vienna in 1998. While attending Mclean she was involved in PRIMETIME Senior Ministries and many small group bible studies in and outside of the church. Doris was a proud American and loved her country. After finally retiring she enjoyed being able to participate more in church fellowship, bible study groups and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed participating in such social groups as the RED HAT LADIES. She is survived by her youngest daughter, Catherine Lee Fenneman, Karen Ann Kemp, her son-in-law Greg, and granddaughter Rebekah Anne. Doris Fenneman, Friday October 26th at the Mclean Bible Church on Route 7, 9:45 am to 10:45 am will be the viewing/visitation....11 am till 12 pm will be the funeral service...12ish to 1:45 pm will be a reception...after the reception will be the procession to Sterling Cemetary, about 2:30 pm. All the above takes place at Mclean Bible Church. The Reception will be a light fare of finger foods. Anyone wanting to bring food, e.g. finger sandwiches, fruit salad, veggies, cheese & crackers, etc including any kind of small desserts, please do so by 10:30 am Friday morning and someone will direct you where to drop it off. The night before, Thursday October 25th, there will be a viewing/visitation at the funeral home from 6 pm - 8 pm, especially for those who cannot make the funeral the following day. The funeral home is Adams Green Funeral home in Herndon, VA at 721 Elden Street, the zip code is 20170 Flowers can be sent to the funeral home by 5 pm on Thursday October 25th. If one wishes to donate to the ACCESS Ministry at the Mclean Bible Church, in lieu of flowers, in Doris Fenneman's memory, they can do so by mailing their donation to Mclean Bible Church 8925 Leesburg Pike Vienna, VA 22182. The ACCESS Ministry is for special needs children, adults and their caregivers.
