Obituary of Christopher George Decker

Christopher G. Decker Of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Born June 19, 1972 in Maywood, Illinois and raised in Santa Rosa, California, Christopher was a warm, loving, husband and father. He was very active in his community by advocating for better schools, participating in Boy Scouts with his son, helping with his two daughters' soccer teams, coaching many of his son's baseball teams, and acting as a Watchdog at the elementary school. He was a generous neighbor, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. A highly valued employee of the Central Intelligence Agency since 2000, Chris was the intelligence community's central analytic voice on global health security issues. He was uniformly forward leaning in his work, and his tireless efforts provided indispensable support to US national security policy. Chris was one of the officers responsible for building-out the global health security portfolio for the entire intelligence community over the past decade, and was critical in helping to guide the focus of that field to examining the geopolitical implications of health issues. Chris is survived by his wife, Amy, his son Nicholas, his daughters Mary Kathryn and Brenna, his parents Clifford and Eileen Decker, a brother, Michael (Debbie), and a sister Catherine. This lovely man will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday November 9, 2012 at Adams-Green Funeral Home 721 Elden St. Herndon, VA; with a funeral service at 1:00pm Saturday November 10, 2012 at Ashburn Presbyterian Church, 20962 Ashburn Road, Ashburn VA. Interment will follow at Chestnut Grove, Herndon, VA.
