Obituary of Jane J. Nakles

Jane (Konieczny) Nakles, loving and devoted wife, loving and caring mother, adoring and joyful grandmother, was born in Mt. Pleasant, PA on November 21, 1946. She grew up in the Mt. Pleasant and Scottdale area with her mother Ann, father John, brother John and sister Linda. She graduated from Scottdale High School in 1964. Jane attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1968, with a Bachelor's degree in elementary education. Her first teaching job was at Mantua Elementary School in Fairfax, VA in 1968. She taught there until 1970. On June 27, 1970, Jane married Bob Nakles in Uniontown, PA. After a honeymoon in New England and Canada, they moved to Shippensburg, PA. Jane worked in the Chambersburg Area School System, teaching fifth grade at Fayetteville Elementary. While teaching, she earned her Master's degree in elementary science from Shippensburg University in June 1972. In July 1973, Jane and Bob moved to Sterling, VA. Jane taught sixth grade science at Sterling Middle School, Rolling Ridge Elementary, and finished her teaching career at Eagle Ridge Middle School. She taught for a total of 26 years, retiring in 2006. She touched the lives of many students. Jane also became a full time mother and put her teaching career on hold while she nurtured three children, Michael, Jessica and Rebecca. Even working as a full time mom, she kept busy with a few part time jobs, such as tutoring, homebound instruction, and other jobs she could do while keeping up a home with three busy kids. On July 20, 2011, Jane was blessed with her first granddaughter, Clara Alice Blanchard. Jane enjoyed her retirement and cherished spending time with Clara. She loved hearing Clara call her "Grammie." Jane was a member of Reston Bible Church. She enjoyed the Women's Bible Study and served on the host team, working at the Welcome Desk and Bookstore. She will be dearly missed by her family and her many close friends.
