Obituary of Kathleen S. Hollinger

Kathy Hollinger passed away from complications due to pneumonia on March 5, 2013. She was 66. Kathy was born August 12, 1946, to Alvin and Dorothy Lundy, in Bloomfield Hills, MI. She attended Albion College and graduated from Eastern Michigan University, where she met her husband, John Hollinger, whom she married on February 4, 1967. She is survived by her husband, John, her brother Richard Lundy of Dexter, MI, her four children, their wives, and six grandchildren. These include Mark Hollinger, his wife Lori, and grandchildren Andrew (8) and Alison (1), Michael Hollinger, his wife Susan, and grandchildren Rachel (10) and Jonathan (7), and Matthew Hollinger and wife Kathleen, plus grandchildren Ayla (2) and Brooke (1). Additionally, Kathy is the mother of Deborah Gerish through a previous relationship. Kathy's passion and career centered around Community Bible Study, an interdenominational group dedicated to the propagation of bible learning through group led questions and answers about the Scripture. Founded by Lee Campbell, Kathy was CBS's first paid staff member, and worked as an editor for both its English and Spanish language publications. Her passion was, as her church's motto states, "to know Christ and to make Him known." In her free time, she enjoyed travelling the world with her husband, meeting new people, and shopping for her grandchildren. As befitting a doting grandmother, Christmases were always an event. Visitation will be held at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA, on Monday, March 11, from 5 - 8 pm, and services will be held at Reston Bible Church, 45650 Oakbrook Ct, Sterling, VA on Tuesday, March 12, at 1pm. Interment will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to share in Kathy's passion by making donations to Community Bible Study (communitybiblestudy.org) instead.
