Obituary of Michael Campfield Hoyt

Capt. Michael C. Hoyt, USN, (Ret.) Michael Campfield Hoyt, 74, of Great Falls, VA, died April 24, 2013 with his wife and children by his side at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, after a two-year battle with leukemia. He was born February 26, 1939 in Chicago, IL. On September, 12, 1962 he married Evanne Grommesh in Casselton, ND. Captain Hoyt served in the United States Navy for 28 years; among his many posts were Guam, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and three tours of duty at sea. After retirement from military service, he worked for the Multinational Peacekeeping Force in the Sinai Peninsula, the DC Metropolitan Police Department, and Montgomery County. Captain Hoyt is a Vietnam War veteran and a Purple Heart Medal recipient. He is survived by his wife, four children and their spouses: Thomas and Debbie Hoyt of Potomac Falls, VA; Amy and Richard Swindell of Alexandria, VA; Douglas and Michelle Hoyt of McLean, VA; and Megan and Joshua Newfield of Arlington, VA; and nine grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Great Falls, VA, on Monday, April 29. A reception will be held immediately after the Mass. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on a future date.
