James(Jim) W. Richardson, Jr passed away peacefully, with most of his family surrounding him, including his beloved dogs, Dex and Tilly, on Saturday May 18, 2013. Jim was the husband of Janet L. Richardson and the father of James(Becky) W. Richardson, III, Brian R. Richardson, Andrew(Jessica) J. Hoffman and Mitchell(Samantha) H. Hoffman. He also leaves his beloved sister Jeannette R. Buehler. Jim was known to his much loved grandchildren, Grant, Kendall, McKenna and Tenley, as "Dad-Dad". He also, leaves two other grandchildren, Cody and Colin. Jim also leaves an extended family of brother and sister in laws, that loved him very much, Dave and Debbie Thompson, Tommy and Brenda Asch and Greg and Kim Co, in addition, to his mother-in-law, Gladys Woodson. He loved his nieces and nephews so very much, Jaime Scott and Katie Thompson, Meghan, Courtney and Garrett Cox and Tyler and Ryan Asch. In addition, Jim has many cousins on both the Richardson side of the family and the Cummiskey's. Jim married his loving wife, Janet, August 22, 1994 on the beach in North Myrtle Beach, SC. They met at the Giant Food Store in Sterling, VA on May 2, 1992. Jim and Janet loved the beach and anything about the beach. They loved attending Jimmy Buffet concerts together, along with his close friend and golf partner Jim Waugh, whom he loved dearly. Jim enlisted in the Army and based in Fort Monmouth, N J and Naples, Italy. After leaving the army he was employed by AT&T in Baltimore, Md, Charleston, WV, Dranesville, VA and Oakton, VA. He retired from AT&T in 1998, after a 28 year career. Jim was then employed by Concert, Nextel and Oberon(Stanley, CGI). While working at Concert he traveled all over the world. He made many friends throughout his career that he admired very much. Jim was an avid University of Virginia football fan, as his step-son Andrew played for the Wahoos for 5 years. He made many friends from the Wilk Hall tailgate and our tailgate with the Shenandoah folks that he so dearly loved. Jim will be missed by so many and I know he would be happy to know how much he was loved and admired.
