Obituary of Stephen Ray Jones

Jones, Stephen Ray "Steve" Lt. USN (Ret.), Age 73. Of Sterling, VA. On Thursday, July 18, 2013. Beloved husband of Betsy Jones. Lt. Jones (USN-Retired) is remembered by his children and stepchildren, Stephen M. Jones (Shelly), Tamara Selindh, Stephanie R. McQuillan (Patrick), David Jones, Allison Phillips (James), Lisa Bowers (Richard) and Jennifer Coomer, as well as his 14 grandchildren and pet Georgie, Skippy and Ollie. Lt. Jones was honored to serve our country in the U.S. Navy's submarine service. Notably he was most proud to be a "plank owner" and to serve with the crew of the USS Ray (SSN-653). Post retirement, he was also known for his beautiful stained glass pieces, including commissions by several churches around Virginia. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Monday, July 29th at Quantico National Cemetery.
