I can't believe I am writing this in memory of Roberta. I have known her since we were 5 years old. She lived about 6 blocks from me and we used to walk to school together. We went through all 12 years of school together and she was one of my best friends. We had many wonderful memories of "the girls", bunk parties, sharing our diaries, sharing our boyfriends, etc. Also many wonderful memories of "the girls" reunions in California, Virginia and Washington DC. She was a very special lady with so much love and devotion to those she cared for. She will be missed by this world but she is on to even bigger and better things to come. I'll see you in heaven, my friend!

Roberta was my son's first special education teacher. She was a truly wonderful and gifted teacher and loved her kids. She also taught me so much about hope and strength. I am grateful that she entered our lives and will always treasure her memory.

Roberta was a loving teacher to children with the most severe disabilities during her time at Arlington Public Schools. She was a loving mentor to mothers and frequently invited the parents in to enjoy the company of others in her classroom.

I felt as if I had been hit in the stomach when I heard of Roberta's passing. I had the priveledge of knowing her through our employment. She knew a lot about children, shared a lot about young children, and always seem to ease the load of others. When I arrived in this school system, she and her close collague helped me set up a classroom program that made sense. Her ideas for interventions were always on target. I enjoyed our social engagements as she was always interested in others. She made me feel warm and valuable. I will miss her.

I remember Roberta (Bobbie Ann) a she was known to our family,as a little girl my Uncle Bob and Aunt Wyota HER PARENTS were very proud of her as you would expect. she was a cute little girl and sweet natured. i remember how when she went to DRAkE University she was so attentive TO my mother, her aunt grace and she visited her lots which meant a lot to MY MOTHER . My mother would always tell me what was happening with her and Joe after theIr visit. Even then she was the link in the family and i regret we didn't have the reunion we talked about. i don't know my cousins and her extended family so i will miss this link to everyone but Facebook helps these days. well i have my memories which will get me by. Dear Jerry, Kate, Andy, Joe and Family: The world has lost a kind and loving soul. I know that her spirit lives on and will be watching over you everyday. As a child in Des Moines we were far apart in age (she was my 2nd cousin) and I did not get to know her well. As an adult I realized what a wonderful person she had become when my daughter Kelly was in DC one summer while in college. Bobbie Ann found out and even though we had not spoken in years she invited my daughter Kelly to spend family time with her and her family, easing her time away from home. In recent years we reconnected on facebook and I was able to follow all the events of her life through her words and photos. It was clear she loved and adored her family and pretty much everyone she met had a friend in her. Rest in peace Bobbie Ann. I will miss your daily posts, inspirational words and the sweet comments you would leave for me on mine posts.

I had the pleasure of working with Roberta for several years at Patrick Henry, teaching music to her class. I learned so much by watching her interactions and interventions with her students. She touched so many lives and opened so many minds.

Dear Loved Ones of Roberta, Earth lost an amazing woman recently and there are many of us that feel that loss with you. I was fortunate enough to have met her through APS and in meetings, various training experiences and while working on a teacher evaluation process with her, I learned much from her experience and expertise, and certainly enjoyed the camaraderie we shared. In these and the rare social situations I enjoyed with her, I learned of her loving spirit and how she gave so selflessly to others. What an inspirational woman she was.....always fighting the good fight and trying to help those less fortunate! She was truly a good woman and I am a better person for knowing her. I will miss her dearly! I hope that your memories of time spent with her will bring you comfort and peace as you let go of her. She will never be truly gone as she is inside all of us, and we are fortunate enough to get to carry her with us always. Love and hugs to all of you. \lm/

It was an honor to have been able to get to know Roberta while she was at APS. She loved those kids with all of her heart and even though she had mountains of experience, she was always open to ideas from everyone who worked with a child. She respected the parents with her whole heart and used every tool at her disposal to reach each little one in her care. She made miracles. Thanks for sharing her with us.
