I have known my friend Lou for over twenty years and in that time I was always amazed by his character, grace under pressure and love for his family. Always with a smile on his face and a quick wit, Lou was a leader for all of us to emulate. His courage and uplifting attitude were remarkable and Anita and I will miss him dearly. For those of us who were privileged to know him, a little piece of us weeps today but the memory of the twinkle in his eyes will always leave us with a smile...

I will always remember Lou's patient, steady demeanor under pressure. Lou had a way of making everyone understand that things were going to turn out "ok", and his leadership inspired those around him to succeed as a team. Lou was quick to smile and to offer a kind word to a colleague who needed one. He loved his family dearly, and spoke often of the kids' most recent accomplishments or their latest family trip or adventure. Although his work sometimes kept him away for long hours, his joy was when he returned home to be with them.
I am blessed to have known Lou... he will be missed. My sincere sympathies to Sharon and the kids, and Lou's family, on your loss.

Lou and I had a chance to work together on some very difficult programs, but in each case Lou could always be counted on to give his best, and get the best from those around him. Lou's leadership, commitment and passion to always do his best allowed him to always lead by example. Probably most impressive were those moments when we had time to talk about family, Lou's wife and kids were clearly the center of his universe. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten, by those of us lucky enough to have worked with him.

Lou consistently demonstrated calming leadership. Even under the most challenging situations, he always met the challenge with a calm demeanor. When you asked him about his family, he always had a big smile and a wonderful story about a recent event. I was so very sorry to hear this news. We will miss him. My deepest sympathies are with Sharon and the children. You are all in my prayers.

I came to know Lou during my time as IS&GS. Lou was the most authentic and down to earth man I had met. His leadership was impactful across the board. Lou and I would often have the chance to attend some Eagles/Reskins or Nova/Temple games and even though we were on opposite rooting sides, I always had a blast hanging out with Lou. He was a great man and he fought a great fight. Rest Peacefully Lou and God Bless the Family.

One thing I will always remember about Lou was how calm and steady he was no matter how crazy life got. For 1.5 years, every Friday, Lou had to brief senior leadership on the state of a very tough program: Geoscout. No matter how difficult the questions from the leaders were, Lou always remained calm, he never got too high and never got too low. I witnessed this first hand when I got to play golf with Lou at a company tournament. Lou and I were paired in the same cart. We hit hooks, slices, and duff shots for six hours. That day, I got so frustrated when I hit a ball into the woods and I remember Lou smiling and telling me "a bad day of golf is better than a good day at work." His encouragement helped me to relax and to roll with whatever life brought me that day. I try to emulate his calm and steady demeanor at work and in life. God's peace, rest and blessing to you Lou.

Our families have been neighbors and friends for over 9 years. The D'Ambrosio family is intertwined in our lives and memories - school, scouts, sports, birthdays, outings, vacations. This picture is of our first visit to a Redskins game in 2010. Lou was a trusted friend and a joy to be around. We'll miss his laughter. We'll cherish our memories. The Schalow Family

I knew of Lou many years before he knew me. His reputation as a great leader and as someone who gets results preceded him. When we formally met, I shared that I went to school from 5th grade through 12th with a friend with the same name who is also from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area! Then I set up monthly meetings with him where he began teaching me how to speak "Vinny." (Vinny Sica is a Vice President he worked for and I support.) His coaching and mentoring and "translations" will be missed.

Lou started as a boss, then a mentor and eventually a friend. I met Lou when I was an overzealous 24 year old. He taught me to be humble, work hard and most importantly be patient. Trust me I had lots to learn, Lou was a great coach, his wisdom and compassion helped me get back on track. Our interactions started with short chats in the office then longer mentor sessions over dinner, the next thing I knew my life slowly started to change. He didn't just help me build ambition to be a better person but gave me the toolsets to make it happen. Its hard for me to explain how Lou changed who I am, but if you ask those close to me they'll tell you he had a hand in turning me into the man I am today. Knowing Lou has been an honor, I'll never be able to repay him for everything he's done for me. He will always have a special place in my heart.

I worked with Lou back on AEHF. He was a great person to work with. Sorry I will be out of town during the service and will not be able to attend.
