I've spent the days thinking about Virginia and what she meant to me and our family. Firstly sweet comes to mind. She was always kind and friendly and had not one ounce of malice. How does someone become like this? Even in the George W era when I was full of wrath, Virginia just seemed to float along in life, not getting bogged down with angst. What a beautiful nature. I think of your home and garden and Virginia was very much part of the charm of your home. I think of her sitting in the sunroom and your family room and she took note of what was going on outside in the garden, without actually being in the garden.
One day I had an hour or two with Virginia when you and Dave were out. I'm not sure how or why this happened but she told me all about the old days. It was difficult for her not being able to hear so well. Especially with a lot of company, but she seemed to accept this gracefully and would sit and smile sweetly.
How nice she had JJ as a friend and companion. And now JJ is there to comfort you and Dave. David's sister remembers Virginia and Mildred and she asked me about JJ and how old he was. I decided he must be quite elderly since it's been eight years since we have been in CA, and I felt he was quite mature when you inherited him.
Dave and Monti you were fantastic care givers and you gave Virginia a wonderful life. I hope my kids and their spouses will be as generous and accommodating when we are in our old age.
Sending you both love at this sad time.

I will always remember Virgina as The Real Lady. She always put her best foot forward, never spoke out of place and loved to chat and listen to, laugh and tell little jokes. Virginia was always welcoming and made you feel you could "come back soon and anytime". She will always have a little corner of my heart.

For many years Monti I have heard about your mom. I could feel the very deep love you have for her through the stories you shared. I enjoyed them all. One day last year Amy and I came to your home for a visit. I finally met this wonderful lady I had heard about. So pretty and sweet, cuddling her best buddy JJ. I was very impressed by how bright she was for her age. We talked and laughed ... toured your new kitchen ... sat out in the sunroom looking at your garden and watching the birds. We left feeling as if we had been in the midst of family ... comfortable. What a rich connection you both have had. I also want to add to this how much I admire Dave for all the support he has shared over the years. Because I have met her although late in her life, I am pleased to share in the celebration of her 97 years! God bless you.
