I happened to know Freida at our neighbor street BBQ on July 4th, 2010. It was such a delight for a young chap like me to know a lovely neighbor who was also in my field. I always felt encouraged and inspired by her stories every time I stumbled upon her in the neighborhood.

Some of the most memorable times of my childhood were when we would go to Great Falls or other parks and have picnics, or hike in the woods. We would sometimes go to River Bend in the early spring and look for wild flowers, like Lady's Slippers and Jack-in-a-Pulpits. One time we came on a Snapping Turtle and had to make a wide berth. Another time, we went to the foothills of the Blue Ridge, and Mom worked on a painting of a barn. We also explored a creek during that trip. We would also camp our way down to Florida. One time it rained most of the way down, and our old tent leaked. My brother and I slept in the station wagon part of the time so we would be dry. But we had great fun!

Cousins, Ross and I were so sorry to hear of Aunt Freida's passing. We wish we could be there to lend our support in person, but we are currently in Pensacola checking on Ross's Mom (97) and his Aunt Alice (94). Please know all the family is in our thoughts and prayers. I imagine Aunt Freida, Uncle Bud and Mom are having quite a reunion. Much love, Carol
