I just learned from Peg of Jack's passing. Jack was an usher at my wedding and my relationship goes back to 1964. He was a dear dear friend and a kind and considerate person whom I greatly admired and loved. We had not communicated much recently which makes it sadder since I did not know of his illnesses. To Peg and family she knows how I feel. The world is a little less classy with his passing

Dear Peg and family, During the past 4 months, I have had the honor of getting to know your family and see the depth of the love that drives you all. Your love for Jack touched me deeply....every time I saw any one of you come visit. Jack was an amazing man...he had such inner strength, that I think even he didn't know he had some days. He faced such incredible difficulties during his efforts to recover. He drew strength from you all and gave it his best shot.You were all there for him every single day! You were the fire that fueled him.... and for you, he tried.... he tried so very hard, even though the "mountain seemed so high". Just when it seemed he would move on to the next step of recovery, he would have yet another complication. But still, he worked with us and gave it his best...and we all prayed...maybe in a few days... Your love for him and the love that flowed in from all the cards, pictures and people he knew, proved just how loved he was..and THAT says alot about the man. I feel honored to have had the chance to know him in my small way, for he was surely a great man!I would have loved to see him come back to visit us one day, well, and full of the spirit that we all knew he had.
