She was my baby sister and I loved her more than I have words to express. My earliest memory is that she was the cutest baby I ever saw and oh so sweet. She would always try to escape her play pen by sticking her little toes into the holes of the netting. Our Nana thought she was just amazing. She was more right than she could know. Our nick name for her was Abe from our TV repairman. Back in the day you had to actually get off the couch to change the channel or fix the picture and Kathy loved her little job of doing this for her family. My parents cherished Kathy as their youngest child, my sister, brother and I as the baby in our family. She would become equally as cherished as the beloved mother of two beautiful daughters and Grandmother of two wonderful little boys. She was born to it and relished every moment.
Kathy was beautiful, funny and kind. She was gutsy. She was "Brooklyn" and no one could sing and dance to "New York, New York" like my sister did at my son Jason's wedding. We never laughed so hard. It was classic Kathy. She will be remembered always and forever missed by her nephews Jason and James of whom she was so proud, and by her big sister as she lovingly called me.
I love you Kathy, Maureen

Sergio and I would like to send our deepest condolences to the entire family. We met Kathleen at Jessica and Jorge's wedding for the first time and immediately were taken with her smile and kind personality. Us girls danced together to celebrate. Sergio and I are very happy to have celebrated such a wonderful moment in her life. We all leave an impression and after meeting Kathleen only once, she left a beautiful lifelong impression on us. God bless you all.

My memories of times spent with my sister are many, too many to share here but all wonderful, funny and filled with love. Growing up in Greenpoint Brooklyn, attending St. Cecilia's grammer school and walking back & forth to school thru Winthrop Park. Having lunch on school days at Grandpa Toal's - both of us giddy with excitement on Friday's as that is the day Grandpa went to the bakery for chocolate spice cake as a special treat for us. Easter Sundays at Aunt Eileen's house on Long Island - quite a drive back then from Brooklyn. All of us with our Easter outfits on - my sisters and I using Vaseline to polish our patent leather shoes! Kathy and I always in trouble with Daddy because we would go across the street to play in the park before the long drive, getting our new yellow Easter coats dirty. Holiday dinners with Aunt Catherine - my sisters, brother and I laughing as the adults always sang after a "few" drinks: Aunt Catherine sang "There'll be a change in the Weather" followed by Daddy's song "That's My Desire" and then Mommy joining in with a favorite Barbara Streisand song. Grandpa drinking whiskey sours and always asking Kathy to get him another one! All of us sneaking Crème de Menthe wanting to know what secret power it had that made the adults so happy all the time.
We spent summers at our bungalow in Roxbury. Lazy beach days swimming and having PB&J sandwiches, always with a little "sand" for that extra crunch, LOL! Mommy trying to rinse all the sand out of our hair when we returned and then putting vinegar on us to soothe our sun burn. Kathy and I giggling while running barefoot on the beach, trying not to burn our feet on the hot sand.
The years go by and Kathy moves to Idaho, marries Larry (a wonderful man) and they have the most beautiful daughters in the world, Jennifer & Jessica. Later on they move to Virginia to live near our sister Maureen and her family. Kathy loved Virginia and made a wonderful home there for her and the girls. Kathy was always beaming with pride when she spoke about "the girls" and was thrilled when she became a grandmother to Donald and Tommy. But don't call her Grandma; she was "Nana K"!
Over the years we became closer & closer. She was my sister and best friend. We talked about our dreams and plans for the future. I could always rely on her for a laugh or pep talk if something had me upset. I could talk to her about absolutely anything and know that she would always be there for me. My sister Kathy was beautiful, loving, kind and funny and I will miss her terribly but she leaves me and our family with wonderful memories we will always cherish. She will forever be a part of me and always in my heart.
Love & Miss You Sis!
Joan Ann

We met in high school 40 years ago. We hung out in Greenpoint, I'd ride my bike up to Russel St and spend endless hours together. You were always playfully smiling and sarcasticly flirting. You quickly became my best friend. After your family moved to Bayside I'd pick you up and spend our time at Crocheron Park, Laughing, holding hands walking and talking into the night. Not even son of sam could dampen our spirits, or scare us away. You went off to start a family as I did the same, but we never lost touch in all those years apart. We remained best friends. Fast forward to Virginia 2004. The kids were grown and you never lost your zest for life or love, that playful smile, that amazing sence of humor, or the love in your heart. My oldest and dearest friend and lover, your smile, your laugh, your memory will live with me in my heart and head and will never fade. My best friend, i'll love you forever. RIP, Love Tom

To the Toal/McMasters Families, It is with my deepest heartfelt sympathy and condolences that I send my good thoughts and prayers to you, on the loss of my dear friend and a very special person. Kathleen was a "One of a Kind" friend, She had a love and passion for her Daughters and Grandsons that was unending. She was loyal and fiercely protective of the ones she loved. My wish for her was that she knew how much she was Loved and that she died without pain or suffering. I will remember her always and have only the best memories of the times that she and I shared together, both when I visited her, at her home, in Virginia and when she visited me, at my home, in Central New York. She and I shared many Great times, when we were together. I will never forget Kathleen, as she will always remain in my heart. Kathleen and I both shared a mutual love for our childhood Summers that we spent on Jamaica bay, "The Best Times of Our Lives," we'd both say and reminisce about, continually. God Rest Her Soul, May she Rest in Peace~ Sincerely, Your Friend, Teri

Jennifer/Jessica, Our thoughts go out to you and the rest of your family. Although we hadn't seen your mom in a number of years we thought of and spoke of her often. We had some great, funny times with her in the old Nickelby's days as well as on our trips to Cancun where she would make people laugh in two different languages. She was smart, funny, loyal, kind and so much fun to be around. Again, our sincere condolences to you and your family.
