Obituary of Kaethi Beutler Swogger

Kaethi Buetler Swogger was born in Strengelbach, Switzerland, on January 31, 1933. She was one of three children. She grew up in Zofingen, a German speaking section of Switzerland. At the age of 16, Kaethi left home for the French speaking section to study French while she worked as domestic help in a family for a four year old boy. She moved to England in 1953 and worked as domestic help learning English. Two years later she returned to Switzerland working in numerous positions and continued learning, receiving her diploma as a dietitian in 1963. In 1956, three American soldiers visited her home. One was from Pennsylvania, who would become her husband, Denver Swogger. They married in 1967, and she came to the United States with her husband to live. After two years, their son, Duane, came into their lives. Denver passed away on June 20, 1977. She is survived by her son, Duane Erwin Swogger, and his companion, Annie McGinley both of Annandale, VA . Kaethi is also survived by her sister, Annemarie Koller, and her brother, Urs Beutler, both of Switzerland. The funeral will be held at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virginia at 2:45 p.m. on Monday, December 29. Visitation will start at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pall Bearers for Kaethi will be Dave Kendall , Michael Fox, Simon Bell, Nathan Smith, Gordon Thomas, and Jim Palmucci. Burial will take place immediately following in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Kaethi's name be made to a charity of your choice.
