Obituary of Darlene C. Thompson

Darlene C. Thompson, 74, of Ashburn, VA, passed away January 3, 2015 peacefully in her home. She was born to the late Edward and Elizabeth Cornelius, June 26, 1940 in Alexandria, VA. She spent time during her childhood in Arlington, VA and Arcola, VA at the family diary farm. Darlene was a dedicated employee of the Town of Herndon for 42 years. She enjoyed traveling, cruises, and trips to Disney throughout her life. She cherished time with family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Etcher of South Riding, VA, and Lisa Etcher of Fredericksburg, VA as well as four step-children, Joan Rhodes, Ronnie Thompson, Judy Thompson and Karen Middleton. She was preceded in death by her husband Corbin Thompson. A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday January 30, 2015 at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charities close to Darlene's heart: The Children's National Medical Center, March of Dimes, Susan G. Komen Foundation, and the ASPCA.
