Annette and I were classmates and friends at Strayer back in the 90’s. She was vivacious, sarcastic, witty, brilliant, and hilarious. We were fast friends, and somehow we lost contact. For any who may yet read this memorial, know that Annette’s spirit still touches this world.

Annette:
We are still in disbelief about your passing. You added so much to our AU experience and were a distinct cheerleader for the entire cohort. We were looking forward to completion of your Capstone project and all walking together in May 2016. You were a great mom to Rebekka and a caring individual. You made us relook Mr. Rogers. May you rest in peace in eternal light.

Annette was a great friend and wonderful presence at the DC Indymedia center, where I met her back in 2001. She always brought a smile to my face and was a great person to have around as we established the center and fought against the patriarchy and capitalist structures governing our society. I remember when she told me how she had been inducted into the Society of Wenches at the Maryland Renaissance Festival..... She was such a sweet and funny person. When she told me she was pregnant, she was just beaming with radiance and joy - she was happier to become a mom than anyone I had ever known. And the last time I saw her, just about 10 years ago, she was such an amazing mom to her beautiful little girl. I am so sorry to hear that Annette has passed :( . Independent media in DC and everywhere will sincerely miss your presence, Annette.

Dear Henry and Family, I was shocked and saddened by news of your daughter's passing. Losing a child is a pain that I can not imagine and I am sure it is a pain that will remain in your hearts forever; however, I pray that the wonderful memories you have of your loving daughter will ease your pain with time and fill the void that you have in your heart. My grandson, passed away in 2002 at the age of two and half months. It was the worst time of my life and the life of my son and his family. I can still cry when I think of my grandson but I can honestly say that time has lessened the pain. Henry, I was not fortunate enough to meet your daughter but I do know that she was a wonderful, loving person just by knowing you. My heart goes out to you and your family. With love and sympathy, Linda Orndorff

Dear Annette,
I never got the chance to meet you in person. I truly wish I had. I will always think of you when I hear a bad joke, or see a Charlie shark (or even sharks in general!). Fabulous shoes, fabulous nails, fabulous you. You've been taken away too soon and yet you will always be with us in our hearts. When it's my turn to Wander, I know you'll be there with a pun, with a smile, with a hug.
Yours,
WanderingLass

I wish I had just the right words to express everything I'm feeling. The sadness, the joy of the memories, and the child in me wanting to yell "this isn't fair". To Annette: You will always be a friend to me. I will remember your love (especially for your daughter), your laughter, and your shenanigans and smile. To her family and friends: My heart is with you.

I was truly stunned and saddened to hear of Annette's passing. Though we never met in person, she was a large presence in my life through Ravelry and Facebook and she will be deeply missed.

I am so sorry and stunned to hear of Annette's passing. Annette and I met in school and were practically inseparable until I had to move away. She spent a summer with me at my Oma's home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and I still remember that visit so fondly. When we reconnected through Facebook, I throughly enjoyed her constant wit, humor, generosity, and loving nature. She was so supportive of everyone and their goals. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved, and she helped shape who I am today. I will not be able to look at any Fred Rogers or Dalai Lama quote, a brimming cup of coffee, or watch Beetlejuice without thinking of her and smiling (6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot BUNCH!!) Thanks to her, I discovered the joys being exactly who I am, that singing at the top of your voice (even when one cannot sing) is highly encouraged, holiday shenanigans (it was me who put the Christmas boxes on your front porch last year, Mr. Normand. Guilty as charged!) and the tastiness of Carl's custard--she took me there for my first visit. I offer my sincerest condolences to the family and I want you all to know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
