Annette M. Normand, 42, of Arlington, VA passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at her home in Arlington, VA.
A lifelong Virginia resident, Annette was born February 2, 1973 in Fredericksburg, VA. She is the daughter of Henry A. Normand Jr. and Mary Ellen Normand, both of Fredericksburg.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Rebekka Long; her brother, Henry Normand III (Nicole); her nephew, Jacob Normand; niece, Savannah Normand; and Brian Long, her daughter's father.
Annette had made a career in the Federal Government as an Human Resources Development Specialist with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service after years at the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Annette received her Bachelor's Degree with honors from Strayer College and was near completion of her Master's Degree in Public Administration and Policy at American University. As pastimes, she enjoyed reading, knitting, and the camaraderie of good friends. Annette was known for her irreverent humor, resilience, and particularly her caring spirit. A frequent volunteer, Annette was a strong advocate for local independent media, children with developmental disabilities, and a variety of social justice issues. Above all, Annette was a devoted mother and daughter.
