I have a few stories I could tell about Pops. I could tell you how he taught me how to get through the first levels of Ms. Pacman or my about my pitiful attempts to imitate Pop's impression of Woody Woodpecker. Or the times Denise and I would decorate a piece of paper for his birthday or Father's Day and wrap it around a coffee can and fill the can with his favorite candies: Tootsie Rolls, Bulls Eyes, and who knew Mary Jane was a candy, too. I could tell you that Pops is to blame for my love of science fiction, because he took me to the first movie I remember watching in a theater which was Star Wars. There is a special story I want to share...
Mom, dad and I lived with Pops for a little while when I was about three or so. Like most kids that age including Linius from Peanuts I carried around a blanket. Man I loved that blanket and boy was it soft. One day Pops threatened to take my blankie away.
I immediately jumped into action. I took blankie and hid it in a place where I thought Pops wouldn't be able to find it. Next, I had to keep him from poking around to look for it. I went to my toys and found the exact one I wanted. I took it with me as I snuck up on the couch behind Pops. Pops was sitting on the floor in front of the couch watching a Redskins game. The Redskins were probably winning, since it was the 70's - pre-Dan Synder.
I saw my bulls eye. That small bald spot right on the top of Pop's head. It was the 70's, so it was very small. That's when I reared back and with all my might I took my toy yellow hammer and whacked Pops right on the head. He whirled around and proclaimed, "You little rascal! What did you do that for?" I told him that he was not going to take my blankie. He never did.

May you find the peace you searched for As you wandered, lost, in the night. May your tortured mind be clear and calm And your tender heart be warm. May you have no need for strength now. May there never be another storm. May the music of the angels Be the sweet sounds that you hear. May you never shed another painful tear. I'll wear your memory proudly, My brother in law...my friend. Until we meet again. Love Jenny
