Grace I was out of the country until today. I am so sad to hear of your mother's passing. May God bless you always. You were the best daughter I can imagine. I know your mother's last years were blessed because you took care of her. May God fill your heart with memories and take away the pain. Please contact me if there is anything I can do for you. I miss you.

September 28, 2015 I will miss so many things about Margaret, her enthusiasm for life, her love of flowers, her cats, her home, her family, and living with Grace. While she was our neighbor in South Salt Lake, she stopped at our home frequently and sat at our table and told us marvelous experiences of her life. My husband and I were both very fond of her. She had a special kind of beauty and a serenity about her that made her so welcome wherever she was. She was very talented in repairing anything and everything, and her home was filled with lovely items she had mended or glued or refinished. On all the small boxes she renewed, she painted some flowers and painted a small hummingbird in the midst of them. She made life richer and more joyful and better. I loved her dearly. Evelyn M. My mother was an avid gardener; spectacular iris in the spring, bright yellow mums in the fall, and brilliant orange nasturtiums around the patio border all summer long. Everything blossomed under her care. She was a talented artist, and creative designer and seamstress. She was a fun person who loved people, easily making friends -some lifelong - wherever she went. She was a mixture of Dutch practicality and spiritual greatness. She was a lovely woman; a fine woman.
She was courageous and compassionate. She stood on the rooftop and watched as Rotterdam was bombed at the beginning of World War II. Afterwards, she went into the streets to help the injured and dying. She described what happened in great detail. "How did you stay so calm and composed? Weren't you scared?" I once asked her. "Not really," she told me, "I knew the Lord was protecting me, and besides, people needed me."
She was a guardian for neglected and abused children, frequently becoming personally involved to their day-to-day lives. She did fund-raising for the Utah Boys Ranch. Even lost and wounded animals found their way to her door, and she helped them, too. She had a keen sense of fairness, and sometimes found herself defending the vulnerable. "Do what is right," she told me, "Just do what is right and let the consequences follow."
