Obituary of Kathryn Ann Breen

Kathryn (Kathy) Breen, 72, passed away in Virginia this past week. She was born in 1943 in New York to David and Ann. The family moved to Connecticut where she grew up closely with her older brother David and worked as a young girl at the family store. After marrying in 1963, Kathy had three fine sons and she enjoyed many experiences while living overseas. In France, she enjoyed gourmet cooking courses at a culinary school affiliated with the Cordon Bleu. In later life, Kathy continued her love of travel visiting her sons in Germany, Ireland and Belgium as well as touring England with her friends. Her passions were reading and gardening - growing roses, hydrangeas, and her prized peonies which originated in her mother's garden. Kathy worked in Human Resources until her retirement in 2003. During this time, she forged strong, deep friendships with some lovely ladies with whom she enjoyed close relationships. They provided solid support for her in her later years and she loved them dearly. Blessed with gifts of generosity, kindness and warmth, Kathy was a very dear, loving grandmother to Gunnar and Connor. They were her sunshine. Kathy was a long and devoted church member at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Herndon, Virginia where she served as an Elder and subsequently as a Deacon. The choir and bell choir were a favorite of hers as was her church family. She is survived by her three sons Robert (Grace), Jeffrey (Kim) and John (Susan), her brother David (Donna), grandchildren Gunnar and Connor, nephews David (Shari) and Gib (Stephanie), as well as her many dear friends. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Trinity Presbyterian Church located at 651 Dranesville Road, Herndon, Virginia 20170. A celebration of life service will be held after the visitation at 11:00 am. A reception with family and friends of Kathy will be held after the service at Trinity Presbyterian Church on November 28, 2015. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Trinity Presbyterian Church may be given in Kathy's name.
