John was my brother who taught me to tie my shoelaces (when I thought I could never get that), to cuss (I learned that one thoroughly), not to fear critters ("seee, he's not slimy!"), to love bluegrass, to get acquainted with the "B" side of a 45, to enjoy -- actively enjoy -- kids. And so much more.
