Emmett F. Reagan, 92
Emmett Francis Reagan, 92, of Springfield, Virginia and former longtime resident of Reston, Virginia, died Sunday, May 8 at Greenspring Village, Springfield.
Born February 24, 1924 in Portsmouth, Virginia, he was the son of James C. and Zita D. Reagan. He served in World War II, Pacific theater, as a naval aviator in the United States Navy, from 1942 through 1946. He was awarded numerous awards and citations for his service, including four Air Medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross. During the Korean Conflict, he was recalled to active duty as a member of American forces stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland.
In 1948, he earned a B.A., communications, from The University of Alabama, followed by an early career in radio in Richmond and Norfolk. In the early 1950s, he joined Standard Office Supply, Norfolk, Virginia, which launched a career in sales. In 1963, he began work for Xerox Corporation, from which he would retire in 1994. His career at Xerox included positions in direct sales, sales management, and lead roles in sales training and management development at the Xerox International Center for Training and Management Development (XICTMD) in Leesburg, Virginia. He was active in the Reston Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus, Reston.
He is survived by five children; Jonathan D. Reagan, Tucson, Arizona; James C. Reagan, Reston; Paul J. Reagan, Springfield; Stephen P. Reagan, Reston; Sarah L. Reagan, Centreville; and a sister, Margaret R. Whitehurst, Chesapeake. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Palmer B., in 2010, and a son, Emmett F. Jr., in 1988. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Although longtime residents of Reston, the family had also resided in Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11, 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, Herndon, Virginia. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered from St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Reston, Virginia, on Thursday, May 12, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1503 Michaels Road, Henrico, Virginia, 23229. Email condolences may be made at adamsgreen.com.
