Obituary of Daniel Lee Harris

Daniel Lee Harris was born to Lily Nash Harris and James W. Harris on June 20, 1933. He was born in Arlington, VA, and was raised in Arlington and Washington, DC. He served his country in the Navy 1951-1955 He Served his Community with the Fairfax County Police Department, for 20 years, retiring in 1976. In his free time he enjoyed raising his 4 children in Great Falls, VA, and has assisted others in their time of need. Many people have looked to him as a mentor. He greatly enjoyed helping in his community and teaching children about nature. Through the years he was active in square dancing, camping & gardening, and owning various German Shepard Dogs. Later in life he enjoyed tracing his, and his beloved wife's, genealogy. He immensely enjoyed spending time with his fellow retired police officers and their spouses. He will be remembered for his excellent sense of humor, his gift of story telling, and his love of family and community. He is survived by his Wife of 59 years, Etta Raynette Harris, his 4 Children, Holly Howard (John), Scott Harris (Chris), William Harris, and Chuck Harris, and his 2 grandchildren, Joy Patterson (Tim) and Joseph Harris and Brother Tommy Harris all of whom have remained in Virginia."
