Obituary of Lynn Maurice James

Lynn M. James Lt. Col U.S. Army Retired LTC Lynn M. James passed away on Saturday, October 22nd, 2016 after a long illness at Reston Hospital. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Rose M. James. Lynn was born in Akron, Ohio in 1929. He graduated from Kent State University under the ROTC program and began his military career in 1953 with the United States Army. Lynn was assigned to various duty locations across the United States and Europe. To include hardship tours to Korea and two tours in Vietnam. Lynn was highly decorated in his military career by receiving two Legion of Merits, Command and General Staff, and a Bronze Star in combat. Others too numerous to mention but left his family proud of his accolades. After his retirement in 1979 from the Army he pursued and received his Masters Degree from George Mason University and began his new project in his hunt for the Missing in Action, partnered with the Department of Defense. In which case he was successful. Everything Lynn did in his life was greeted with success and it merely exuded his sense of joy and adventure. Lynn’s family also brought him joy! Lynn and Rose have two daughters, Victoria, married to Robert Williams, and Rebecca, married to Mitchell Frid. Lynn and Rose also have 4 grandchildren, Robbie, Diana Rose, Michael and Matthew, and two step grandchildren, Zoe Frid and Sydney Frid, daughters of Mitchell Frid. Lynn and Rose are also proud of their great grand children, Cassius Emory and Connor James Williams, sons of Robbie Williams, William Edward, son of Diana Rose and Keith Weatherford, and Layla Rose, daughter of Matthew and Maggie D’Amato. Michael has a girlfriend, Blair, and they are pursuing their goal achievements in their jobs. Lynn is preceded in death by his parents Allen and Pauline James and his brothers, Harold and Donald and a sister Norma Ruth. The family with greet and receive friends on Saturday, October 29th, 2016 at the Adams – Green Funeral Home which is located at 721 Elden Street in Herndon Virginia 20170 beginning at 10 am until 11 am and immediately following at 11 am will be a Catholic Service. Internment at Arlington National Cemetary at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project
