I am so sorry to hear of Martha's passing. She is and was a wonderful person. One of the Sterling group. She was always doing good things. I last saw her at Ruritan Bingo . She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers to the family

We have had the privilege of having Tom and Marty Hummer as neighbors for almost 30 years – and there could not be a finer and more loving couple. Marty was the paragon of everything that was right about small town neighbors. She was always kind, engaging, and helpful and she was the epitome of human decency. Still, her wry sense of humor, coupled with that mischievous twinkle in her eye, suggested a playful side that let others know that she was committed to the true enjoyment of life as well. Her dedication to family was apparent from taking in her mother as her mother was in failing health to the multiple generations of family that would joyously flock to her home on holidays. In a world that is becoming all too “me” oriented, Marty selflessly gave back to others through her AA work -- and not only did she touch many lives, she truly saved lives. No doubt, she will be missed by many, and forgotten by few. Mary and I are thankful for having known Marty, and our lives have been enriched as a result. Our hearts go out to her loving husband, Tom, who grieves the loss of his wonderful life partner of 62 years.

To Tom and the other Hummer's, How she loved you all. Marty was a wonderful woman with a wonderful sense of humor. Caring and compassionate to one and all. We spent hours and hours laughing at the Countryside cafe. She loved Tom and the boys but she couldn't stop talking about her grand babies. I haven't seen her a lot in the last few years but she remains forever etched in my heart.
