Obituary of Dmitriy Y. Barengolts

Dmitriy Y. Barengolts passed in his home on Thursday, February 23, 2017 in Sterling, VA after a long battle with Glioblastoma. Born on August 4, 1964 in Korosten, Ukraine, he was the son of Yakov and the late Malka Barengolts. In college and university he excelled in sciences and mathematics. Dmitriy graduated with advanced degrees from the National Agricultural University and the Computer Learning Center in Springfield, VA. He moved to New York City in September of 1995. Eventually relocating to the Washington DC area where he and his wife lived and raised their two children. He was a long time employee at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation for over 20 years. He enjoyed playing tennis, basketball, working on his house, coaching soccer, writing poetry and spending time with his family. Dmitriy was a driven and dedicated man, when diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme in October 2014, he remained dedicated to his work, and in his will to fight his illness. He remained the quintessential family man and will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Yelena, daughter Anya, son Gregory, father Yakov, brothers Boris and Alex along with an extended family of cousins and nephews. The family will have a memorial service on March 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Adams- Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society.
