Obituary of Cathy Dayle Crews

Cathy Dayle Crews of Reston, Virginia, passed into the hands of our Lord on 28 March, 2017. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her three children, sister, and close friends. A memorial service for Cathy will be held in the sanctuary at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Saturday, 1 April at 2 pm, with Brian Homet and Andy Yeatman of Northern Virginia Church of Christ leading the service. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Family and friends will scatter Cathy’s ashes at her chosen location on the anniversary of her baptism. Adams-Green Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements. Cathy was born in Hampton, Virginia, to Ancil Thomas and Maxine Janet Crews, on August 9, 1954. She earned her Bachelor of Science in 1976 and Masters of Electrical Engineering from Rice University in 1977, one of two women to do so. Widely regarded as an expert in her field, she worked as an electrical engineer in the aerospace and defense industry for almost 40 years, in California and later in Virginia. She was happiest when spending time with her children and friends, camping, hiking, scuba diving, skiing, gardening, reading, knitting, playing the piano, cooking, and learning new things. Cathy is survived by her three children, Caroline, Robert, and Michael, her mother, Maxine, and her sisters, Christine and Celinda. She will also be sorely missed by her two cats.
