Obituary of Deborah Haines Butler

Deborah Haines Butler, a longtime Herndon resident who was active in the town and the mother of four children, died April 8, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 60 years old. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September of 2016, Debbie fought hard with a strong optimistic outlook full of hope and faith. The cancer fought back and the angel on earth that she was has now become our angel above watching over all of us. Ms. Butler was born in Herndon, Va on August 10th, 1956, to Virginia Irene Printz Haines and Maurice P. Haines. She grew up in an unconditional loving family with three siblings, Gary, Patsy, and Connie, in the Herndon home on Quincy Street that their parents purchased in 1941. She graduated from Herndon High School, where her children also graduated school. She was a compassionate and giving woman who served the community she loved and grew up in by taking an active role in organizations like Job’s Daughters, Eastern Star, countless PTA’s and supported her children’s numerous sports teams over their growing years. As many who know her would say, Debbie had the gift of hospitality. She was the kindest and most loving soul and she brought a sense of peace and warmth to every room she entered. She was a true artist and had an incredible talent for cooking, baking, and decorating. Known to many as the best cake baker in town, not only could she design beautiful cakes for the most special of occasions but the taste was unmatched. Her talent was reflected in her personality and no matter the challenge, she had the ability to make life seem like a “piece of cake”. She is survived by her four children Kevin Richard, Katie Mamie, Keith Carson, and Kyle Brendon Butler; her step-daughter Kim Sellers and her children Billy and Colby; her three siblings, Gary Haines, Patsy Rust, and Connie Hutchinson; nine nieces and nephews, and seventeen great nieces and great nephews. Her unconditional support of her children has allowed them to chase after their dreams. Her eldest son Kevin, currently lives in Austin, TX where he has thrived in it's unique culture. He wants to pursue his dream of scoring movies, and is currently performing in various groups with the multiple instruments he plays in Austin. Katie, her second born, absorbed much of Debbie’s creativity. After graduating with an Interior Architecture and Design degree from Radford University, she chased her dream of designing movie sets and moved to Los Angeles, CA. Keith, always the nomad of the group, spends much of his time traveling the world on tour as a production manager and audio engineer. He is also based in Los Angeles and continues to work on his tan. Kyle is finishing up his degree this May from VCU School Of The Arts. He plans on pursuing freelance Graphic Design for multiple facets specializing in artist branding, gig posters, and album art. He is currently based out of Richmond, VA and still plays drums in his free time. The most important thing in life for Debbie has always been her family. Her four children will continue to chase after their dreams and will pour their hearts into everything they do to honor her. Friends may visit at Adams-Green Funeral home on Thursday, April 13th from 6-8PM in downtown Herndon. A memorial service will be held at the Herndon United Methodist Church on Friday, April 14th at 1PM open to all, followed by internment at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Debbie's name to Herndon United Methodist Church, Order Of The Eastern Star, and to the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
