Bryan was such a kind soul and happy individual. I knew Bryan through our work at AMADC. Shortly after moving to Charlottesville VA, I heard of his passing and was able to attend his service. Thinking about his wife, daughters, friends, and family.

We were unable to attend Bryan's memorial service due to a scheduling conflict. My wife and I thought throughout the weekend about all of the positive experiences Bryan shared with people throughout his life and enjoyed reading about those through tributes and memories which his friends have been and continue to share. My wife and I recalled some fun times with Bryan. While it may be insignificant to many, we again recalled one memory which was special and entertaining and which we have had a good laugh about many times over the years and which we have both shared with him numerous times. It involves a lamp shade from our first home which we bought in 1994, a townhouse built in 1969 which came with a burnt orange wicker lamp shade which we used for a while after moving in. We had Bryan and a couple of other friends over for dinner soon after moving in. The lampshade was in use when we had dinner that night. Susanna and I made a number of self deprecating apologies to everyone in attendance about having to look at the hideous orange lamp shade over the dinner table. We discussed making it our first upgrade out of our meager salaries at the time and talked about throwing it out once we bought a replacement. Bryan would have none of it and asked us if he could have the lampshade. We got a kick out of this and made sure we kept it for him in our basement when we took it down. We actually kept it a couple more years since it now encompassed a talking point and value associated with what Bryan saw in the lampshade which we did not. You see, Bryan saw something in that lampshade which captured something uniquely late sixties in its color scheme and the way it was crafted. Indeed, looking back now, it would be impossible to find anything like it and Bryan saw something unique about it then and given that we were having such a nice time at dinner, he saw the value of it as being associated with good company and discussion that night during dinner. A time capsule and a memory marker of our enjoyable evening together that night. We were never able to give Bryan the lampshade, it disappeared in the shuffle, but we had many laughs recalling it over the years. We will miss Bryan's cheer and positive outlook on life, his inclination to first see the positive in all things, and his pursuit of searching out new experiences with friends and his family. Thank you for your friendship and kindness Bryan and our heartfelt condolences to MaryAnne, his children, and the rest of his family -Namaste, Marc and Susanna Blackman

I knew Bryan through several mutual friends mostly from 15 to 20 years ago. He was genuinely one of the nicest people I knew, always looking out for others and always kind-hearted and happy and full of life. He was so positive, he never brought be people down, his energy was always uplifting. I am so sorry for your loss, Bryan was such a nice, classy person and I am sad that I will never get the chance to talk to him again. My memories of Bryan will always be fond ones. Please accept my condolences.

Bryan truly was the nicest person we have ever known. Always thinking and looking out for others. One weekend the family spent with us we looked out and Bryan was watering our hydrangea plant. There was a thunderstorm and he made our end table into a den for Samwise, their sweet dog. When Nikki couldn't reach the bathroom faucet to wash her hands, Bryan found something that would act as a step for her. He will missed by so many. We send our love to the whole family.

Sincere condolences to Bryan's loving friends and family. Such a heartbreaking loss. I knew Bryan as a child, being close friends with his sister Julie. I remember a sweet and mischievous child, who grew into wonderful man. May he rest in peace.
