Obituary of Bryan John Crum

Bryan John Crum Age 47, resided in Reston, Virginia, passed away on April 9, 2017. He was a true family man and a loving husband to Mary Anne Abola, and dedicated father to Veronica and Katrina, and his dog Samwise. Born January 12, 1970 in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, he was the youngest child of David Lloyd Jr. and Kay Marilyn (Frazier) Crum, brother to Julie (Greg) Baer, Gary (Lauren), and Janice (Chris) Serra. He is survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, and was close with his in-laws: father in-law Leonardo (deceased), mother in-law Veronica, brother in-law Paul (Amy), sisters in-law Cecille (Dennis) Thompson, Josie (Gary) Brockman, and Carmella Roberts. Bryan prioritized and cherished time with friends and family, always seeking fellowship, celebration, and adventure, with a big smile and brilliant blue eyes. A nature-lover and fun seeker, many good days were spent biking, hiking, camping and kayaking....and in his earlier days, skateboarding. His church life and neighborhood revitalization were very important to him, serving them in many ways. He spearheaded redesigning a parklet in his community, and was always one to count on for helping others, especially with technology trouble-shooting. He had an impressive career in the marketing and communications industry, helping many fledgling companies evolve into robust successful entities. He was always ahead of the curve, pushing the envelope, going above and beyond. A Memorial Service will take place 11:00am Saturday April 15th at Floris United Methodist Church, 13600 Frying Pan Rd, Herndon, VA 20171. A Memorial Reception (at the church Fellowship Hall) will immediately follow at 12:15pm. The family encourages sharing of stories and pictures. If you would like to make a gift in Bryan’s honor, the family has chosen the following organizations: Capital Caring (Bryan’s incredible hospice care) and Life with Cancer (INOVA).
