So sorry to hear of Donnie's passing. He sent me a wonderful note after my sister, Aubrey's, death last September. He was a wonderful musician and a great friend. Sending all my love to the family.

Dear Debbie and Mrs. Cal (that's how I knew you):
I was shocked to hear about Donnie's passing. Although it's been years since high school, I still remember his kindness and smiling face. During our high school years, he was always such a gentleman and was always so happy. May he rest in peace and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Deborah,
I cannot believe that your husband, that ray of sunshine, has passed. He gave Steve and me great financial advice, counseled us when we were down in the dumps and was such an inspiration with his positive attitude. We are truly sorry for your loss. He
will be missed.
We will be ever grateful that we had him in our lives for the years that we did.
You are in our prayers.

We pray for the soul of our dear cousin Donnie, and for his family and loved ones at this time of grief.
I am fortunate to have known Donnie as a good friend growing up in Clairton, PA, and as "Family", from the time he married my beautiful cousin Debbie.
His kindness, generosity, and spirited personality brought joy to all those around him. Donnie was talented in many ways, especially musically. And perhaps his greatest gift was his ability to make you laugh, until your cheeks hurt.
We played in the Clairton Band and Orchestra together. He was a much better trumpeter than I, but he would often defer to me, probably because I was 4 years older, and because he had his eye on my cousin.
When the Clairton Band received an invitation to play at the 1964 World's Fair in New York, Mr.Caligiuri (Donnie's Father) assigned me the privilege of being Donnie's guardian for the trip. Although a 12th grader minding an 8th grader could have spelled trouble, we behaved admirably. And the Band had a standing ovation presentation !
One of my fondest memories is of a Memorial Day ceremony at Clairton Park. Two trumpeters were needed to play the "Taps" after the 21 gun salute. Donnie, being the stronger lip, got the lead part. He stood on Memorial Hill at the flag pole, and I was assigned to be his Echo, and positioned on a nearby hill out of sight.
Of course his performance was flawless and stirring, and I proudly and carefully repeated every bar he played.
May the joys he brought to all of us continue to Echo in our minds and in our hearts.
I will miss you "mio caro cugino".
With love,
Gene Anthony and Angel Iannazzo

I'm so completely shocked at this news. My thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies to Debbie, Cyn, Nellie and the entire Caligiuri, Fiore, and Johnston family. No one had a smile and laugh like Donnie. That's how I will always remember him!
All my love,
Anita (Kocis) Parker

My condolence and sincere prayer for the entire Caliguiri Family. I was in the band with Donny @ Clairton High School. He was a year ahead of me and without question a fabulous trumpet player and student. Everyone looked forward to his trumpet solo's at our Annual Spring Concerts. He and his Father who was instrumental in my music development will never be forgotten @ Clairton High School.
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
