OBITUARY DORIS BELL DETWILER Doris Bell Detwiler, 73, of Sterling, VA, died on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at her home. She was born Nov. 1, 1937 in South Hill, VA, the daughter of the late W. E. Bell, Jr. and Doris Elise Blitch Bell. Doris graduated from the Medical College of Virginia and in addition to be being a devoted wife and mother spent the majority of her nursing career working in hospice care. She was a member of the Great Falls Church of Christ for 47 years. Doris is survived by her husband of 49 years, Daniel Landis Detwiler, Jr, whom she married in 1961; three children; Daniel Landis Detwiler, III (Cyndi) of Berryville, VA; Benjamin Elliott Detwiler (Anna) of Boyce, VA; John Bell Detwiler of Sterling, VA; grandsons, J.D. Detwiler and Thomas Detwiler of Berryville, VA; brothers, Walton E. Bell (Peggy) of Reston, VA and William R. Bell (Dianne) of Richmond, VA; two nieces, Melissa Mulholland of Fairfax, VA and Elise Snyder (Jeff) of Centennial, CO. The family would like to thank Capital Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Capital Hospice, 2900 Telestar Ct., Falls Church, VA 22042. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.adamsgreen.com . Visitation: Friends may visit family from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, at Adams Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, at Adams Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA. Private family burial will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon, VA.
