Obituary of Doris Jean Brownlee

On December 18, 2017, Doris Jean Brownlee, 83 of Hamilton, VA joined the angels in Heaven. Her time on Earth will be remembered for her caring and unselfish ways. She always had an ear to lend, an offer of assistance and an innate desire to give. She found simple and thoughtful ways to make others happy and brighten their lives. Jean is survived by her husband of 60 years, Don Brownlee; her children Ron and Oyuna Brownlee, Sherry and Jimmy Paich, Rick and Judy Brownlee and Sandi and Jim Corona; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Libby Burkhardt and Jane Johnson.

Jean battled Alzheimer’s for the last four years of her life. As many before her, she was unable to overcome it. She is at peace now and free from discomfort and certainly basking in the company of our Lord while looking over us from above. It is for this reason that the family requests donations (in lieu of flowers) be made in Jean’s name to either the Alzheimer’s Foundation via their website act.alz.org or the Blue Ridge Hospice via their website www.blueridgehospice.org.

The Brownlee family offers their sincere and deep gratitude and appreciation to all that helped Jean through her tough times by a phone call, sharing a hug or holding her hand and helping her smile. She loves each and every one of you and was comforted with your presence, caring, thoughts and prayers.

Friend’s and family’s hearts are heavy. Her hugs and smile will be missed. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and pleasure for the time we were able to spend with her and now we know she is eternally looking over us with a smile on her face at the reciprocated love she received while with us.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Dominion Valley Country Club 15200 Arnold Palmer Dr, Haymarket, VA between the hours of 2:00-6:00pm. The guests are then invited to join us at the home of Rick and Judy afterwards at 5643 Shoal Creek Dr, Haymarket, VA.
