Obituary of Carmen Bergen Ramsey

It is with great sorrow we announce the loss on December 29, 2017 of Carmen Bergen Ramsey, 81.  She leaves behind her beloved husband of 30 years Forrest G. “Woody" Ramsey, Jr., 4 children, Scott Fakler (Thuy), Shawn deLadurantaye (Ron Kaus), Matthew Schmidt (Lia), Daniden Griel (Tim), 9 stepchildren, Marty Schmidt (Eunice), Nancy Lorson (Dave), Debbie Jenkins (Ben), Becky Johnson (Bobby), Susie Klopp (John), Diane Hayes, Forrest G. Ramsey, III, Mark Ramsey (Lisa), Ken Ramsey, 33 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother Marion and father Walter Bergen and 2 brothers Jack and Jerry Bergen.  Carmen is survived by one sister Carol Bergen Hague and one brother Lynn Bergen and his wife Bert.

Carmen wished to be remembered by the great joy she took in family and friends, nature, books, music, quilting, crafts, and celebrations of any kind.  Together with husband Woody she traveled the world and visited all 7 continents.

In truth, she will be most remembered by her love of life, laughter, wisdom, sense of humor, stubborn will, unconditional acceptance of all people, and love of children.  As she once said “If I could, I’d probably be everyone’s mother.  I can’t help it.  It’s who I am.”  Truer words were never spoken and it is therefore important to acknowledge the many various and sundry “children” she took under her wing throughout her lifetime.

It is with utmost heartache that we accept her passing.  The world will forever have a hole where Carmen “Mom” once lived.  She will live forever in our hearts.

Private Memorial Service will be held by family. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital or any charity that benefits children.
