Dear Carolyn,
Karleen and I extend our deepest sympathies. I'm sorry we couldn't be there with you to say goodbye to this fine man. I saw the obituary just today when I was catching up on the Washington Post.
I always appreciated working with Gordon - he was a first class man in every way, and at all times a true gentleman.
He always spoke with pride about you and Jessica. The keepsakes in your heart will remain forever. May God enfold you and give you comfort.
Sincerely,
Carlos and Karleen Escobar

Lauren, Alicia and I give our deepest condolences to the Jarratt family and know Gordon's spirit lives on among all family and friends that knew him On so many occasions, the one one constant that Gordon left us with was "feeling good." Whether from Gordon's good sense of humor, good conversation, or being a good host, etc., Gordon was the best term for the use of the word good....a "good friend" to all of us and we will deeply miss him but always will remember him. He truly left you feeling better after being around him because he was fun, funny, and enjoyable to be around. He leaves his loving wife Carolyn and daughter Jessica far too early but know from my own conversations with Gordon on numerous occasions out together, he loved being a family man, husband and dad. His world was Carolyn and Jessica! Again, our deepest sympathy to the entire Jarratt family, Carolyn and Jessica! Love, Martin, Lauren and Alicia

Gordo was one of the few people that I've know whose default mood was upbeat and happy. He was a great friend during our years at Va Tech. His hall in the Lee dorm always resonated with his very gregarious greetings and warm personality. Like most good friends, his interest always centered around your life and activities rather than his. He really loved interacting with everybody around him and it seemed that he knew every single student on the campus. I didn't get to see him very much in the last few years, but whenever I did, he would light up and re-engage as though no time had passed since our last visit. We'll miss Gordo deeply. Rest in peace, friend.

May you rest in peace, Gordon
The world lost an incredible man, leader, and person this week. Gordon was the kind of person that could find something positive in anything; an eternal optimist and professional. My heart breaks for his family, for his wife, who lost her companion, and his daughter, who lost her dad. I will truly miss him, his smile, and his support. Prayers for his family and friends.

My deepest condolences go out to your family during this difficult time. I know the pain of losing loved ones and it's only natural to wonder why this happens, but I was comforted in knowing that God will soon bring death, sickness, pain and suffering to an end (Rev. 21:4) and even more comforting is that He plans to bring our dead loved ones back to life one day (John 5:28,29). I hope these thoughts help you to cope until that time comes.
