Saddened to read in my Beloit College magazine of my cross-country friend Stuart. Many many hours shared together running the country roads around Beloit or driving the hours and hours to distant colleges for cross-country or track races. Ten miles out on a 15 mile practice or 2 hours out on a 3 hour drive after a meet, you knew you could turn to Stu and he would have a joke, story, chemistry experiment or amazing baseball statistic to share with you to get your mind off your aching muscles or the long drive back to college. I often thought one of these days Stu will get on a TV trivia or sports statistic game show and become a millionaire. Well, I’m glad to read from his work colleagues and others that he continued to be the kind and inspiring individual he was to me during our days together at Beloit. I will sadly miss him and my sincerest condolences to his family.

Please take comfort in memories you have of Stuart and the promise at Isaiah 33:24 which says there will come a time when NO ONE will say, “I am sick.” In fact “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away,” says Revelation 21:4. The people we meet along our individual paths in life come and go through the years but every once in a while we meet someone that that stays with us long after they have departed the world. Stuart was one of those lasting impressions. A unique, talented, intelligent individual whose imprint will be remembered for all the days left to me. My friend chose to live simply and to minimize the chaos of the world which swirls around us all even though he had the capacity to achieve well beyond normal. I believe people like Stuart exist int he world to teach the rest of us that life does not have to be as complicated as we all tend to make it and that happiness and joy can be found in simply doing a job well, enjoying a baseball game or just sitting down and talking to one another. Stuart you may be gone and you will certainly be missed but My Friend you will never be forgotten! To the Close Family please know that Stuart was loved, admired and respected by everyone he met in our industry and you have our deepest sympathy for your loss.

We love you all and share in your grief. Stuart was an interesting guy who always made us laugh. Easter won’t be the same without him. It is shocking to lose a family member so young. It shocked us as well. We still can’t believe it is true.
