Andy,
So very sorry for your loss! What a lovely way to spend your first Mother’s Day without her by honoring her. Such a generous and loving woman!

Our deepest sympathies to Dorothy's family. She was a beloved friend to our family and tutor to our children for many years. Her tutoring made a real difference to our children, educationally and in other ways. Dorothy was always kind, wise, thoughtful and caring. She remained a dear and valued family friend after the tutoring ended.

Your tribute to your mom is a testament to her loving care and nature.
I don’t think I met her because in 1970 I was at HHS. However, my mom, Jackie Burlingame, taught at Herndon Elementary during that time, retiring around 1979. She was the perennial first grade teacher. I’m sure they must have known each other.
I just checked the HES 1977 Personnel Cookbook, ‘ A Second Bigger Through Better Eating,’ and your mom’s recipe for Country Cream Peach Pie is in it! I hope you have fond thoughts of her Peach Pie woven in amongst the rest of your memories.
May God’s peace be with you.

I did not have Mrs. Watts as my elementary school teacher, but two of my friends did. I remember how nice Mrs. Watts was and how she always greeted everybody so warmly in the halls or if you saw her out in the community.
My condolences to her family.

Oh how much I owe to the lovely and always elegant Ms. Dottie Watts. She was my 6th teacher, and she taught me many things including how much words mattered. Most importantly, she taught me how much my words mattered, and her encouragement led me to pursue a career centered around writing and editing. I am so happy to know she had many years to live, love, and shape the minds and hearts of so many people. I offer up my sincerest condolences to all who love and are missing her.

A wonderful woman and beautiful soul. She endured much nonsense from the "Bucko" days with grace and good humor. Her family was blessed with her presence as were those who had the good fortune to know her. Prayers for the family left behind.
