Obituary of Romeda Marie Milliken

Romeda Marie Milliken, 76, of Great Falls, VA, passed away on Saturday afternoon on May 12, 2018. 

Born on November 29, 1941 in Hoboken, NJ, Romeda was the daughter of Theodore Mehlig and Adelaide Boice Mehlig.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Tait Milliken III.

Ro began her life in Cliffside Park, NJ, where she made many fond memories at Palisades Park with her friends, Linda and Adele. She attended college at the University of Colorado Boulder, graduating with a degree in zoology.  After teaching with the Semester at Sea program, she worked for many years as a medical technologist in blood banks, including at the American Red Cross and Inova Fairfax Hospital.  She and her husband, Tait, made a loving home for their children and many animals in Great Falls, VA. She was regular attendant at St. Thomas à Becket Church.

Romeda is survived by her daughters, Adele Elizabeth Jackson and Corinne Marie Milliken Van Ness, her brother, Theodore Boice Mehlig, her grandsons, William Tait Jackson and Thomas Boice Jackson, and her nieces, Jane Anne Mehlig and Mary Adele Mileski. Ro will be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law, Susan Jane Mehlig, her sons-in-law, William Thomas Jackson IV and Andrew Traynor Van Ness, and her expected granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 18, 2018 at St. Thomas à Becket Catholic Church in Reston, VA. Burial will follow at Chesnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon, VA, with a celebration of her life afterward.
