Obituary of Barbara E. Boyd

Barbara Ernst Boyd of South Riding, VA passed away on May 30, 2018.  She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 29, 1944 to the late Frederick Robert Ernst and Doris Louise Hagelin.  She attended Pennsylvania State University and was married to her high school sweetheart, Thomas Arthur Boyd, in 1966.  As a Navy wife she lived in Florida, California, and Spain before moving to Herndon, VA in 1976.  Barbara was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and served on the staff of the preschool for many years.  She is survived by her daughter Nancy Boyd Rush (and son-in-law Jeff Rush); son Jeffrey Thomas Boyd (and daughter-in-law Jennie Boyd); daughter Karin Lynn Boyd; daughter Jennifer Boyd Kimsey (and son-in-law Jeff Kimsey); and sister Nancy Putney; and 11 grandchildren whom she loved dearly.  She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas and grandson, Mason.

A memorial service will be held at the church on Saturday, June 9 at 1pm with a reception immediately following.  Interment will take place on a future date at Arlington National Cemetery.
