I have been thinking about Avis for a long long time. I found her obituary on the web, Dec. 21 2020. I had rented from Avis back in the 1990s in her Sterling home. She was one of the dearest persons I've ever met. Her lively spirit and twinkling eyes and gracious spirit was wonderful. We had good times together and she even came up here to PA to visit and picnic with us. She had that special sparkle in her eyes and a quick wit about her. We shared stories and memories. She had some of the funniest sayings that I still remember today. The last time I saw her was a couple years ago in her Ashburn home. She is one special lady and I feel very sorry that I didn't get down to see her. Avis was always helping and doing things for others. I feel honored to have known Avis. She is now in the arms of the LORD Jesus forever. Avis, I love and miss you.

I am embarrassed and sad to say I just found Avis' obituary and am so very sad we missed her services and the opportunity to share in the celebration of her life. Avis was a dear woman. She babysat our sons, Thomas and James, for several years, they went to school with Matthew and Jeffrey and we rented one of her homes from her just down the street from her Sterling home. We loved Avis. Our boys loved Avis. She was one of the most genuine, loving and hard working women we have ever known. She taught our boys so many things and shared her love for gardening and fresh vegetables with us. For many years after we moved to Warrenton, we would keep in touch and stop by or call to say hello. One visit I especially remember, we wanted to take her to dinner. We asked her to pick a place she would like to go...she wanted to go to Taco Bell! We had a great time eating tacos and catching up. I am sad to say that although she crossed our minds a lot during these last few years and Tom and I would each say, we need to call her, time slipped away to quickly. I know Jesus welcomed her home with open arms and she is dancing and singing with him now. Our thoughts are with the family as you have lost treasure.

Avis my angel from heaven sent to me in the care of my agency. Avis guided my steps with faith and love to help me become more perfect in my nursing duties. Avis was a friend, a mother a teacher of life to me and I am so happy our souls pasted through this life as her words of encouragement will remain with me until we meet again in the arms of God.

Avis has been such a dear soul to us! We send deep condolences to friends and family. We will treasure her forever and eagerly look forward to seeing her again, in God's time. We can also celebrate that dear Avis is in the heavenly kingdom, the glory Jesus guides us to. Avis became our dear friend 15 years ago, when I, Heidi, became a work-week boarder at her Sterling home. She was a huge comfort to talk with, after work... A surrogate mother and a kindred spirit. Avis lived a life of truth, as a wonderful woman of God. She loved life, and knew in a good way how to always "be stirring the pot." . .. Busy in God's work, encouraging others, sewing quilts for babies, sharing her garden, and PRAYING. God blessed Avis and continues to do so. May you all be blessed by her. She blessed my husband and me.

My Grandma Runion memories go back as far as I can remember.
To the great house in Herndon, the pool, playing all over the house and garden.
the first RV vehicle we played in.
Camping, Ice Cream Store, Waterparks, and just hanging at her house which was like a museum of things to do! All the good times in Orland thanks to the time share she gave me. The amazing times at North Fork because of her timeshare there!
What I will mostly always remember is her positive amazing and hard working attitude. I learned and realized how amazing she was at a young age and have always strived to be like my Grandma Runion in that regard.
I can not imagine how many peoples lives she has touched and helped and spread her positive loving attitude around.
Oh and my sea salad and tang which I will also miss - because it will never be the same without Grandma Runion.

My condolences to the family at this time of loss. Losing the ones we love is never easy. May prayers to the God of comfort strengthen you. And may the promise that death will finally be no more console you (Revelation 21:3, 4). Let our loving Heavenly Father bring you the peace that only he can provide.

I grew up going to church with Miss Avis. She was an awesome lady! We used to close down McDonalds after church some Wednesday night because she would get a hankering for icecream on our way to take her home. We had all of our youth group yardsales in her front yard. My brothers and I loved helping her in n the garden. Camp was always a great time! We always stayed in a camper with her, Jeffery and Matthew until she got her cabin and then we all stayed in there till mom found her own. A couple of years ago she even taught my daughter how to garden at camp around her cabin :) She was loved by all. Especially my family. We considered her family! We will always cherish our memories with her! Love and prayers to the Runion family!

When i first met Avis, i was a worker. Due to her loving and caring character, things change and Mama Avis took me as her daughter and I took her as a loving and caring mother which i never had. Words cannot express my thoughts and feelings of gratitude. Mama Avis made me part of her family so as all her family. I want to express my thanks and appreciation to the entire family especially Debbie and her Husband Chris.
