Obituary of Carolyn Horton Davis

Carolyn Horton Davis, 74, departed this life on Friday, September 28, 2018.   Carolyn was born on March 8, 1944, in Welch, West Virginia to the late Floyd Fitzgerald and Jessie Law Horton.   At a very early age her family relocated to Bluefield, West Virginia.  After graduating from high school she attended Bluefield State College, earning Bachelor degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics.  Carolyn was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

After graduation Carolyn moved to Northern Virginia where she was employed by the federal government.  She had a long and illustrious career, retiring from FEMA in 2005.

In retirement she was very active with her seniors and friends through numerous activities and trips.  Ever bright and cheerful she was always joyful and fun, known by all who new her as the ‘Mega Shopper.’  Her motto was ‘Shop to you drop.’

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her loving long time partner, Walter P. Hamilton III, one niece, Danielle Horton Hawkins (David), four nephews, Lamar, Devin, Traemani, and Tyree Hawkins of Raleigh, NC, several cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, Saturday, October 6, 2018, 10 AM – 12 PM, to celebrate Carolyn’s life.
