Erin and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Jackie was an amazing, kind, gentle, loving, and patient soul. I am heartbroken that she’s gone- especially because you all have always felt like family to me. What started out as neighbors on Governors Island turned into almost three decades of laughter, holidays, trips, phone calls, sleepovers, parties, and beautiful memories. My world fell apart when my parents divorced and there was Jackie- opening the door to her own house for me, welcoming me in, checking in on me, nurturing me, and making sure I was okay. As an educator, she had a true servant’s heart. She touched the lives of many and will be sorely missed. Jackie, thank you for giving me one of my very best friends and for shaping her into a mom, friend, and wife that we’re all so lucky to have. Rest peacefully. Love to you all, always.
Love,
Caroline

Erin,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom had the kindest heart, a wonderful laugh, and the warmest smile. I will never forget the kindness she has shown me through the years, from her "adopting" me the first Christmas my parents had moved away, to her cohosting my baby shower. I love you all as my second family, and she is sorely missed.
With much love,
Keana

Dear Erin,
Your mom was actually the first person I spoke to in your family when I called to talk to my "new room mate" in 2000. She told me about how many other people from your high school were also going to Virginia Tech so she was surprised you hadn't been paired up with one of them. Luckily for all of us, you weren't.
She asked me about myself and my life then... and continued to inquire every time she spoke to me for the next 18 years. I realized recently that I actually knew very little about your mom because she was always interested in learning more about other people. Thats a unique gift. She and I did share a very personal and "adult" discussion more recently about our attempts to have children that I will not easily forget.
I also remember her rushing to us after you had surgery in 2002 and showed me your wounds... at which time I proceeded to pass out on your moms kitchen floor.
She was always concerned about us drinking and driving when we were younger! Thats stands out maybe the most.
She was a sweet and caring woman. She gave me "you' and as a result is responsible for much of our easy friendship! Love you all and sorry to see her go.
Love,
Kami

Jackie, Carol and I were neighbors and friends from the beginning when Jackie and Dan moved in. We all watched our kids grow up. Even though we were all busy with family etc we found the time to get together for lunches every several months.
Jackie was always an very positive persona nd found the good in everyone. She always had a smile on her face. I try to remember to be more live Jackie but she is a hard act to follow. She will be missed by all.
Hugs and Kisses,
Sandie

I had the pleasure of meeting Jackie through our Bunco Group. We always had a good time! Even though the point of getting together at one of the member's home was to actually "play" Bunco, the majority of the time was spent eating and enjoying everyone's stories. Jackie proudly shared pictures and eagerly talked about her family. She was always smiling and was genuinely happy, as we all were, to get together with friends. We will miss you, Jackie.

My deepest sympathy to Dan, Erin, Jon and family for your tragic loss. Jackie was greatly loved, admired and respected by everyone she came in contact with. What a wonderful friend, I will miss her terribly. We shared so many great times from countless trips to bookclub, our monthly lunches, and Centre Ridge reunions. She was always ready for great conversation. She was so proud of her children and treasured spending time with her grandchildren. Jackie loved you all so much. I know you will keep her memory alive. She meant so much to so many and will live on in our hearts. Hold on “tight” to all those good memories and smile.
Love and prayers, Kathie

Jackie was a wonderful friend and neighbor. While our paths didn't cross often, when they did, she was always eager to hear about our children and share news of her family. Many of these encounters were during snowstorms while we were all out shoveling and laughing, neighborhood get togethers and Halloween night, or during her and Dan's many walks around the "block"....that's as far as they got because we would chat and catch up for so long! She always had a beautiful smile on her face and a warm, caring demeanor...all of which we will miss so much. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dan and Jackie's entire family...Heaven has certainly welcomed a beautiful new angel.

Dan and family,
We have such fond memories of Jackie who was always a positive, gracious and kind person. I still remember visiting with Jackie at Uncle Ralph’s home talking about experiences overseas and education. I think the last time our Alpena family visited with Jackie was at my mom and dad’s cabin a few years back. We send our sympathies and wish you comfort with many cherished memories that you hold close to your hearts. ❤️

My big sister Jackie was my best friend. We grew up playing, studying and working together. I always seemed to be following in her footsteps.
She had two good friends in the neighborhood and they formed The Little Red Cross club. We must have held meetings and we had this little nurse’s caps to wear. The most memorable event was putting on a carnival to raise funds for the Red Cross. We raised $52.00 around 1953!
In 2013, the Lovas siblings created a family history. Here is some of what Jackie wrote:
“We played games like Spud, Kick the Can, Hide and Seek, Baseball in the street and whatever else we thought of. The rule was to be home when the street lights went on but we could still play out in the yard for a while as it got dark. Rainy days meant playing on the front porch. Card games like Spit or War were popular and also Jacks and Pick Up Sticks. We played lots of Monopoly also. We also had a pear fights from time to time in the back yard. We got into one with kids in the Holland’s yard but I think it was a family after them. We also had tree forts in each per tree at one point and the swings with the metal seats (very safe!) and the tire swing at some point. We had a basketball hoop on one tree also and I remember playing “horse” with the boys sometimes.”
Jackie always seemed destined to be a teacher. She began babysitting in elementary school and kept it up into high school. She had very loyal customers whose children loved her. She not only read books to them, but she made up stories to tell them at bedtime. She had other high school jobs. She worked part time in a Fanny Farmer candy store at holiday times. During college summers, she served as a playground counselor for all the neighborhood kids. I followed her into all these jobs.
She was a very bright student at Magnificat High School and impressed me by taking 4 years of Latin. I got called “Jackie” quite a bit by the teachers who had her first – and they expected more of me because of her! She was granted a full scholarship to St. John’s College located in downtown Cleveland, keeping her at home all through college. She began teaching fifth grade at St. Richard’s School in North Olmsted.
After all the years of staying close to home, she surprised us by going all the way to Germany to teach the children of military personnel assigned there. There she met her wonderful husband, Dan. I recall at their wedding that they commented on wanting lots of children. Imagine what a struggle it was for them hoping for so many years. When they decided to adopt, they were put a list of hopeful parents. They were told that if they got to the top 10 they would definitely get a child. However, fate intervened when Dan was assigned to Norfolk, leaving the state of Tennessee and the list! But, typical of Jackie she jumped right in to her new locale and volunteered to instruct the second grades in preparation for First Holy Communion. The Catholic Chaplin new of their plans to adopt and intervened with Catholic Charities, saying that these folks need a baby now! Jon arrived within weeks.
Together they had adventures all over the world with Military assignments and exotic vacations in Europe, Africa, and Saudi Arabia. We tracked them down for family visits to almost every US posting.
Once the settled in Virginia, we shared holidays with our families every year, continuing the family tradition of turkey, potatoes and gravy at Thanksgiving and gift exchanges at Christmas.

Dear Dan and family,
Jackie was a wonderful friend and colleague. She was truly a lady of joy, patience, kindness, gentleness and faithfulness. She was respected and admired by many as she made a difference in the lives of her former students, fellow teachers, parents and the community of Centre Ridge. When thinking of Jackie, Proverbs 3:17 comes to my mind....Her ways are pleasant and all her paths are peaceful. Jackie Danielson will be great missed, but we will always cherish our loving memories of her. God bless you with peace and comfort during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Joyce and Marshall Dantzler
