Obituary of Ronnie Wayne Chaney

Reston VA. — It is with great sadness that the family of Command Sergeant Major Ronnie W. Chaney announces his passing at age 59.  Ronnie died peacefully November 13th at Reston Hospital after an extended battle with cancer.

Ronnie will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend, Alia, three children: Kymberly Chaney, Sean Chaney (Elizabeth), and Johnlie Valerio. He also leaves behind his beloved sister Pamela Chaney-Williams and two grandchildren: Tyriel and Ripley. He also left behind many spirital brothers and sisters: Frank, Dave, Beth, Tim, Brett, Warren, James, Nesdon, DC, and many more. 

Ronnie grew up in Burlington NJ the son of Jahira and Carolyn Chaney and was a veteran of 24 years of decorated service in the U.S. Army. Ronnie’s medals include the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and Army Superior Unit Award.

After military retirement Ronnie continued service to our nation’s security interests as a defense contractor deploying to Afghanistan, Iraq and Jordan. He was the founder and past president of his own defense contracting firm CLGT Solutions LLC.

Ronnie was active in the Herdon community supporting the Herdon High School Navy JROTC program and many other of their programs. 

A small memorial service for Ronnie will be held Saturday, November 17th 2018 at 2 PM at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herdon VA 20170. Ronnie's interment at Arlington Cemetery will be scheduled at a future date in conjunction with a celebration of life ceremony.
