Obituary of Douglas Henry French

Douglas Henry French passed away peacefully on December 9 at the age of 68.  He was the second of four sons to Henry and Maxine French, and is now survived by one remaining brother, four sisters-in-law, three nieces, and one nephew.
    Douglas was born in Nashville, TN, and moved to northern Virginia with his family when he was 10 years old.  He attended Haycock Elementary, Longfellow Middle School, and McLean High School, graduating in 1968.  While in high school, he enjoyed playing the clarinet and working on drama productions.
    After graduation Douglas worked for two decades in the electronics and defense industries.  Later, he attended George Mason University, graduating in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  Although never married, he enjoyed time spent with his extended family, as well as sailing and fine woodworking.  His latter years were occupied with caring for his elderly mother.  He shared this responsibility with his youngest brother for 15 years.
    The family will be holding a private service for Douglas in the spring.
